designed to help employers evaluate the knowledge and the skills of their prospective
job candidates.
Processing skill verification helps companies to ensure that their job candidates, as well
as their current employees, have the required skills to successfully perform their jobs.
Skills assessments tests have been around for decades. While companies were initially
slow to adopt the use of skill assessment tests, they have become a rising recruitment
trend in recent years.
Every recruiter would love to spend less time reading resumes.
With so many candidates in the market, it’s more important than ever to create an
engaging and human candidate experience. But the need to balance that with finding
the best talent for your role has become crucial than ever.
Skill testing can give recruiters a competitive advantage in today’s job market.
Candidates who are hired on merit, rather than background, tend to stay longer and
perform better over the long term.

  1. Changing Times
Due to the rapid scientific and technological advancement, skill assessment tests have
become a reliable, affordable and user-friendly way for companies to test their
employees and candidates. Having to recognize the changing times and being
up-to-date is very necessary, otherwise business organizations can face loss due to
    outdated thinking and old ideas.
Similarly, having employees with verified skills and competent work ethic is potent for
the business environment to function smoothly.
An efficient and effective hiring process is a step-by-step process for hiring a new
employee, whereby an organization identifies its talent needs, recruits from its talent
pool and eventually hires the most qualified candidates.
Something as simple as the layout of a candidate’s resume can be an indicator of how
qualified they are for a position. The skill of organizing and presenting information in a
clear and concise way is the right way to go.
Technology is always changing, so it is important your skills inventory also is adaptive to
    change.
A 2018 McKinsey Global Institute report revealed that by 2030 as many as 375 million
workers, approximately 14 percent of the global workforce, will change because of
digital transformation, automation and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).
Sixty-six percent stated that “addressing potential skills gaps related to
automation/digitization…is a top-ten priority” while almost 30 percent stated it was in the
    top-five.
  2. Understanding the Recruit’s Real Potential
In today’s rapidly evolving world, employers need to drive skill building to not only
sustain their organisation’s competitive advantage but help employees understand their
options to upskill no matter their age or career stage.
Understanding the need and importance for verifying skills of potential candidates
beforehand can be a game changer for any Recruiter or hiring manager.
Conducting a relevant skills assessment can be an astute first step to understand what
kind of training, learning or development initiatives are required in your organisation as
a result of business transformation, digital transformation, a restructure or a merger or
    acquisition.
More and more organisations are utilising skills and personality verifications to identify
the strengths, weaknesses and gaps within their workforce as well as aid succession
    planning.
Having knowledge and acquiring the required skill set is an achievable task in today’s
technology dominated world. But having put those on-paper skills to work and its
application is an all together different process.
Beforehand, identifying what the ideal candidate looks like for your organization. This
will help you build a clear picture in your head and not be confused.
Skill verification helps employers understand the dynamics under which their current
    recruit works.
  3. Preventing Bad Hire
Skill verification helps employers check the truthfulness of candidates’ resumes. They
can create personality assessments to determine personality or character which assists
employers with shaping and building teams to work effectively by drawing upon the
different strengths that people bring. To assess candidates based on the roles, duties
and specific outcomes that need to be achieved. This could be testing for problem
solving abilities, stress resilience, an analytical mindset, leadership skills or numerical
    reasoning.
A great number of candidates nowadays fabricate their academic credentials and
portray themselves to be eligible for job profiles requiring high qualifications. Conducting
qualification verification prevents employers from hiring the wrong candidate for their
company and saves the cost of employment.
This eliminates Candidates With Unethical Educational Background. It helps in
eliminating the applications of the candidates with documents from diploma mills. The
process detects unauthorized degrees and facilitates smart hiring.
For skills old and new, a skills verification can help keep your employees and teams
    current, productive, and engaged.
  4. Desired Compatibility
Your candidates can have the best technical skills, but if they don’t have the necessary
communication skills to fit in your existing team, they are sure to fail and probably even
    leave your company.
If you find an employee who is not a team player or doesn’t understand the dynamics of
completing the work under the desired time frame
Having an employee who understands the strength of team work and possesses
adequate qualities to thrive under pressure, and also helps his team excel, are the
things that attract the Recruiter towards a candidate.
Every company has its own culture. For example, some companies have a culture of
working late to make sure everything gets done. Other companies have a culture of
leaving at 5 p.m. on the dot. Some companies have a culture of teamwork and
socializing with coworkers. At other companies, employees work individually most of the
time. The employee should be able to understand the ethics and work culture of the
required organization to move ahead with stability.
  5. Minimizing Risks
Skill verification test is one of the best ways to eliminate bias in recruitment. Skill
verification tests are especially useful for handling high volume hiring. When you have a
large number of applicants, using a pre-screening method can help you differentiate the
top candidates early in the hiring process.
As a result, you can avoid wasting a ton of time interviewing unqualified candidates.
According to Career Builder research, 74% of employers admit they’ve hired the wrong
    person for a position.
Recent research from CompTIA suggests that 8 in 10 US businesses are being
negatively impacted by the lack of technology talent. In addition, an EU Commission
report revealed a shortage of 900,000 IT professionals by 2020. Many organizations are
creating skills inventory systems to track and analyze individual skills to not only
properly staff agile teams, but also to identify skills gaps.
79% of professionals think credentials, and other ways to validate your skills, are
becoming more important when job-seeking, and 85% agree skills will be increasingly
more important in the future world of work.
